What a week...

Had a busy week...
So many essays due, and I was trying to prove if my Theory of Eventuality works. ie, leave everything till the last minute, no matter what happens, I will still be able to pull through it. Yeah, I did that, but obviously, I doubt it is near my quality of work. Nvm...just heck it.

Next week, I have 2 presentations, 2 essays due, and 2 tests....But I'm going to give my best shot. Just want to compare the results of last week. I got back my Soci paper, and I got 86 for a 15mins work. My friend spend 3 whole nights and she got 85. I felt bad for her, but I think the marker is really crap, and I think the whole education here is a joke.

Why is it a joke? Today, I met up my group for the supposed 'rehearsal' for presentation next week, and i purposely went late for both meetings but when I reach there, they have yet to finish their work ppts, and I have to do it for them. Sux, and at the end of the day, we did not even rehearse at all. Meeting up tml to do it. I dun see whats the point of meeting and seeing them to do the work on the spot. Freaking hell, I have so much better things to do.

I hate feeling a sense of responsibility. I just want to heck care and be irresponsible for once. Anyway, I NEVER did presentation in my home university at all, and I SUX at it. And this presentation is my first ppt, and it is already kicking the arse of everyone's presentation.

I feel so bad to sound so curt...but it is true. I hope my honesty isn't too blunt!!!

Well guys, I guess most of your exams are over, some of you are already officially non-student and lotsa are already playing away. I still have 5 weeks of school before exams, and 5 weeks of travelling b4 my almost confirmed exchange to Mexico. Yes, here it is, I'm making this official.

And yes, I will be back in Singapore on the 28th July to 2nd Aug(most prob). Then I will be heading to Mexico. Will need to do so many things. :(

Just want to drop a note to everyone in SG, I miss you guys....i'm enjoying myself other than the studying part(I'm not really studying.) Everyone in NZ is saying that I'm so crazy to attempt the waterfall. http://www.bolt.com/innoc3nt/video/725591
But it is good fun....

I'm looking forward for my Steward Island trip...right after i finish all these crap. :)

Last week had more than 48hours of rain, it was so bad that lotsa places around Dunedin got flooded, the worst flooding ever in NZ. And when I was going to school the other day, the drain suddenly had so much fast flowing water, it looks like grade 4 rapids throughout the whole river, I almost took a kayak and jumped into the water...haha, my friend who watched the video also told me that he saw the drain, and he knew that if I'm here I would have jumped in too...hahaha. But the flooding really did killed lotsa people....my life is too precious to be wasted like that. I would only do things with calculated risk involved.

NSP plans to wire up the whole of Tampines GRC

By Matthew Phan April 26, 2006 The Business Times

THE National Solidarity Party says that it would hope to provide Internet access to all of Tampines if its five candidates - confirmed yesterday under the banner of the Singapore Democratic Alliance - are elected in that group representation constituency.

Touching on other issues including employment, education and estate upgrades, the NSP candidates provided few concrete details and deflected questions by emphasising their desire to become full-time MPs.

'We want a vibrant Tampines, we will wire up the whole estate,' Edmund Ng, one of the candidates and the CEO and founder of IT recruitment firm Infinique Technologies, said.

He said the Infocomm Development Authority's plan to achieve over 80 per cent penetration rates for Internet access by 2015 would take 'an awfully long time', saying that South Korea had achieved the world's highest penetration rates in just three years.

The NSP also plans an entrepreneurship centre with access to infrastructure and mentorships with working professionals. 'If you look at current sources of funds, such as micro-loans, they are given to companies with track records or collateral. If you always look at track record, it is hard to build entrepreneurs,' Mr Ng said.

Asked where money for the project would come from, other candidates said that if elected, they would seek funds from the government and contributions from private companies or charities.
The NSP team also intends to propose a quota for foreign workers hired by Singapore companies. Some local workers might possess 60-70 per cent of the skills required for a certain job and could pick up the remainder if given a chance, but foreign workers that fit the job 90-95 per cent are hired instead, though they have no sense of loyalty, Mr Ng said.

Candidate Tan Lead Shake said he wanted to bring more relevance into university curriculums, to better equip students with skills applicable in the workplace, while Abdul Rahman bin Mohamad said he would correct policies concerning the Malay community, such as those he said restricted participation in many fields in Singapore based on ethnic lines. The NSP team said its members were willing to sacrifice themselves, quit their jobs and work 24 hours every day. 'We will give our name cards to residents and anyone is free to call us. If they come with 20 problems, we will solve 20 problems. If they come with 50 problems, we will solve 50 problems,' candidate Arthero Lim said.

-------------------

Damn sianz to do my essay, a little of politics does make life more interesting. I'm really interested for this election. I wonder how does the Singaporeans think now. For me, I welcome GOOD challenges, changes, and sincerity. History doesn't play a part in decision making, what I mention does...and also. "Queueing" theory totally disgust me!!!

(which
to a certain extent i agree)...but whatever it is, it is sure a JOY
reading
what you are doing...keep up the natural & pure way of thinking...i
think
what you read will inspire alot of people next time...this time, it
just did

Now I feel even more, because as I am really enjoying myself here, I know that there are people out there who as much as they want to travel and see the world, they can't because of reasons that restrict them. Well, I hope these people get to see the world in other ways, and for those who (if they try) can make things happen, den I think you guys should start giving excuses for yourself yah? Make things happen now....

Thanks Phong...

How I am able to hand in my report despite being late...

I did all my research and I got everything prepared, and I commenced writing at 2230hours. And at 2330hours, I was so tired and I know I have to call it a nite. The aim is to finish 3000words in 3 hours, but the ZZZZ monster attacked me.

I woke up at 0400hours, knowing that something could be done there, but I did everything other than doing my work, and went back to sleep.

I set my alarm clock at 0630hours but I only woke up at 0730hours. And the dateline is supposed to be 1000hours today. Obviously, with only 2.5hours, it is almost impossible to finish my work.

At 1000hours, I merely hitting 1500words, and at 1130hours, I completed with 2500words, but I shifted the margin, the wordings and format to make it more impressive. Anyway, doubt the prof will check for the amount of words. :)

So this is my report...

And guess how did I managed get my report send to my prof without being identify that I'm late? I went through my tutor who is also stay in my hall who is also my friend....

My Online Pet

Look how much time and energy some students in Singapore has...

Looking Through Your Eyes

Look at the sky tell me what do you see
Just close your eyes and describe it to me
The heavens are sparkling with starlight tonight
That's what I see through your eyes

I see the heavens each time that you smile
I hear your heartbeat just go on for miles
And suddenly I know why life is worthwhile
That's what I see through your eyes
That's what I see through your eyes

Here in the night, I see the sun
Here in the dark, our two hearts are one
Its out of our hands, we can't stop what we have begun
And love just took me by surprise, looking through your eyes

I see a night I wish could last forever
I see a world we're meant to see together
And it is so much more than I remember
More than I remember
More than I have known

Here in the night, I see the sun
Here in the dark, our two hearts are one
Its out of our hands, we can't stop what we have begun
And love just took me by surprise, looking through your eyes
Looking through your eyes

Things to ponder about...

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

Once you have loved, you will always love. For what's in your mind may escape but what's in your heart will remain forever.

The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside her knowing you can't have her, see her or be with her ever again.

Find time to realize that there is one person who means so much to you, for you might wake up one morning losing that person who you thought meant nothing to you.

Too fast too soon

All in a flash, I'm about to apporach the last 3 months in NZ. It suddenly became so real to me that I'll really start to miss this place. The people, the weather, the food, the nature and the activities....

Can I have one wish to be able to return to this mystical place once again...
It really satisfied all my adventurous desire and it makes me feel at ease here...

I dun wanna go. I have pretty much quiet throughout the kayaking trip, reflecting on the things that I have done, the things that I'm doing and the things that I'm going to do. Life is really too short to do so many things, being the greedy guy, i really want to do so many things. Looking back, I think there are so many things that if i knew it I should have done it, and blah blah blah.

So many things that I should have done it, so many things that I shouldn't have done it too, but I reckoned now is to make use of what we have to do what we can. I so so want to fulfil my dream to be a traveler. I so so want to live a life that is out of the Normal Singapore Factory Production. Paper chasing for like 16-18years and then the end state is be AN END PRODUCT for the country, being slave to the country by joining the workforce.

I want to enjoy and be happy at the same time. Can I just not care about what I should in my home country? Or should I do what my heart wants me to do?

So what if I get a good paper, a good job, a good this and a good that....does it really increase the quality of my life? Maybe yeah, but, the process of getting through all this is definitely not something that I want.

Ok, from now, for all that I have, for all that I can, I'm gonna make the 3 months that is left in NZ the best time in my life. I'm gonna do it...

Is funny how people only appreciate things only at the last minute, or somethings when u eventually lose it. But one thing for sure, I will not take things for granted, and I do cherish every single moment that I have, even if it is just plain quiet doing nothing. I yearn for the ability to apprecaite things at their purest state.

Time to start and to finish 2 essays in 2 days time. Wish me luck...

Why we should travel...

That is why we need to travel. If we don't offer ourselves to the unknown, our senses dull. Our world becomes small and we lose our sense of wonder. Our eyes don't lift to the horizon; our ears don't hear the sounds around us. The edge is off our experience, and we pass our days in a routine that is both comfortable and limiting. We wake up one day and find that we have lost our dreams in order to protect our days.

Dont't let yourself become one of these people. The fear of the unknown and the lure of the comfortable will conspire to keep you from taking the chances the traveler has to take. But if you take them, you will never regret your choice.

To be a real traveler you must be willing to give yourself over to the moment and take yourself out of the center of your universe. You must believe totally in the lives of the people and the places where you find yourself, even if it causes you to lose faith in the life you left behind.

You need to share with them participate with them. Sit at their tables, go to their streets. Struggle with their language. Tell them stories of you life and hear the stories of their lives.

Become part of the fabric of their everyday lives and you will get a sense of what it means to live in their world. Give yourself over to them - embrace them rather than judge them - and you will find that the beauty in their lives and their world will become part of yours.

When you move on, you will have grown....never again be the same.

This is the magic of travel. Any travel. You leave your home secure in your own knowledge and identity. But as you travel, the world in all its richness intervenes. You meet people you could not invent; you see scenes you could not imagine. Your own world, which is so large as to consume your whole life, becomes smaller and smaller until it is only one tiny dot in time and space.

All you need to do is give yourself over to the unknown. It doesn't have to be on a vast, dreamlike arctic plain. It can be on a gentle stroll through a Wisconsin forest or on a street corner in Nairobi. What matters is that you left the comfort of the familiar and opened yourself to a world that is totally apart from your own.

Slowly the memories of the familiar recede from your mind and you find yourself adrift in the experience of the world around you. Your thoughts and concerns change. Your emotions focus on new people and events. The world makes its claim on your heart and mind, and you are free, at least momentarily, from the concerns of your everyday life.

Many people don't want to be travelers. They would rather be tourists, flitting over the surface of other people's lives while never really leaving their own.

Murchison Kayaking Trip

Just came back from a week long kayaking trip in Murchison with Otago Univeristy's Canoe Club. Attempted countless of rivers and tried some fantastic rapids. It was real sweet. The travelling is a little crazy though. We spend like 8 hours traveling up and another 8 hours travelling back.

This is one of the rapids that many people capsized. But it is sure fun...

Other than the usual kayaking session, the company is rather extreme, they drink everynight, as if beers are free. And on Wednesday, the club brought us to Marian Hot Springs. It was so good. Natural germo heated water and then japanese hot bath was complimentary too. Super shiok. All of us didn't like bathe the whole time because every shower cost $2, so for a week, all of us did not bathe. :p smelly smelly... The guys often change and pee just anywhere...I wonder how come they dun get stage frights.

On our last night, the organisers got us a sheep that was killed in the morning, and we went to bbq it. Look at the pictures for the preparations of the lamb...pretty gross but kwel.

On the last night, we had some campfire, and we have a "court session" where everyone is put on trial. They have so many different type of 'creative' punishments and the poeple are really sporty to do it. And the club president actually strip naked to drink finish the beer. They have a kayak full of beers, which could probably enough to make us all drunk for 2 nights in a row. Can you guys imagine how much the people drink here. Other than drink, they smoke heaps of weed...and is so freaking expensive to purchase weed.

On our return trip. We stopped over at Marian Falls. It was absolutely beautiful. Rainbows over the waterfall. The waterfall was created because of the surging of one of the plates caused by earthquake in the 1800s. Quite a fair bit of people attempted the waterfall. It doesn't seem difficult to me, probably because I have learnt to want to try as many things as possible. Lotsa people freak out thou. Look at this beautiful picutre and then look at the video. A chance of a lifetime that I know I will never regret in the years to come, kayaking down a waterfall. :)

And finally, an experience of a lifetime kayaking down a waterfall. :)

Good Friday

The Catholic Good Friday in the Roman Rite afternoon service involves a series of readings and meditations, as well as the (sung) reading of the Passion account from the Gospel of John which is often read dramatically, with the priest, one or more readers, and the congregation all taking part. A crucifix is presented, with the people given an opportunity to venerate it. The services also include a long series of formal intercessions. The solemnity and somberness of the occasion has led to a phenomenon whereby in the course of history the liturgical provisions have a tendency to persist without substantial modification, even over the centuries

-------------------------------------

I think I always have the tendencies to missed Good Friday masses, and I almost did it again today. The mass is at 3pm, and I woke up at 3.15pm. Then I rushed to church, lucky I reached there before the veneration of the cross. I'm sick, so I'm pardoned. ;p

Mass was pretty similar to that of Singapore, but Karla was telling me that she never seen such things before in Canada.

Went for a dinner which is organised by the Chinese. It was pretty fun to see sometimes they do not understand each other because of their accent. And I'm really impressed by their patroitism. They shared with me their history and policical affairs with Taiwan. I suddenly feel my knowledge when up by another 200%. I think deep inside me I feel more so a chinese than a Singaporean.

Other than fasting today, I have decided to make a sacrifice. I will offer Chelsea's game tonight to our dear Lord. May they not win like always. Let them be the sacrifical item. Man U all the way.

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday
13 April 2006

Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.
Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. Christians remember it as the day of the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and established the ceremony known as the Eucharist.

The night of Maundy Thursday is the night on which Jesus was betrayed by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane.

The word "maundy" comes from the command given by Christ at the Last Supper, that we should love one another.

In Roman Catholic churches the anthem “Mandatum novum do vobis” (“a new commandment I give to you”) would be sung on Maundy Thursday.

In many other countries this day is known as Holy Thursday.

---------------------------------------------------------------

On this day, 14 years ago, I served my first highmass in church when I was an altar server. It was on this special day, I was given this post that the priest washes my feet. It was kinda cool as I dun really know what I'm doing when I was young, and now the act of washing of feet meant so much to me.

I remembered in many of the retreats when I was a server or during confirmation camps, the washing of feet is like an act of humility and to ask for forgiveness. I remember so many things my brothers and sisters told me during the washing of feet. And one of the last retreat that I have with Mark and Kester was very memorable. Mark came up to me and washed my feet, telling me how good a brother I'm and then both of us started crying, and then kester came and 3 of us cried together. hahaha, never see of guyz crying right, and we really cried so hard, so so hard, I think I cry because I know what lies ahead of us is blurred and that I may never shared that kinda experience with them ever again. But it was so nice to always be sitting between Mark and Kester. Is just like 2 big brothers protecting this youngest one. And is funny how Gerald grew so much closer to me over the years. I always remember how we always rush to the confession box during mass EVERYTIME. And we are like the permenent people who goes up for offertory. This is so fun...And u noe what, today is Chau's bdae. haben seen him online, so can't wish him yet, but I hope he sees this blog, and know that I do miss him. *hugs*

And this season of easter reminds me of the time as a server. Everytime before you serve a mass, the ICs will demand a perfect mass, haha, I used to be mass ICs too. hahaha. But now, to me being able to serve God, it is already so perfect if we can dawn the soutan and serve God at his holy ground. I was looking at the Altar just now, and I was telling myself, it will be so great if I can serve mass for another time. The feeling of standing on the centuary is beyond description.

And last but not least, I miss SPP so much. First time spending my easter out of SPP, kinda not getting used to it, but still...yeah, I will be back soon....

The view of an exchange student and being an exchange student

My perspective of an exchange student
Back in Singapore, students tried very hard to stay away from exchange students when it comes to project because their motives for exchange is to travel around and have fun, grades doesn't matter to them. So if you were to do any project with them, they will expect you to do everything. Yes, everything, heaps of my friend have very bad experiences with them.

I was in this finance class where all the exchange students want to work with locals, but all the locals tried so hard to avoid doing project with them. I only have an experience working with exchange student. he was hardworking and hand up work on time, so I do not have any problem with that. But it is so sad that some of the exchange students are not even responsible with their school work.

But I find them fun people to be with when I do activities with them, like cable ski, kayaking, trekking, and etc. They are pretty down to earth people, and it is so nice to learn a new culture and new perspective from them.

Being an exchange student
My friend once said that dun worry about exchange, the school will pass you, and in fact, they will give you very good results so that you will ask more people to go to their university for exchange.

The whole deal about exchange is not to study really hard, but to learn a new culture, the people, the place, and explore the other parts of the world. I find my interaction with the locals minimal, almost negligible. I hung out with International students more than kiwis, in fact the kiwis i know is less than that of my hands can count.

And you know about you wanting to avoid working with exchange students, but when ur here, you want to avoid working with the locals because they care so much less than the exchange students. They are really slack people, sometimes you dun even know why are they studying here when getting 50/100 is a good result to them. In fact, all my international friends who are also exchange students are so hard working, they study so hard for things that are not even graded.

Sometimes I feel a little guilty because I play too much, and sometimes I also feel a little guilty for working so hard here. I think the key word is to strike a balance, and I really want to do well without putting in so much effort, possible? hahaha, but the point is to enjoy while I can here. So many of my friends are due to return back to Singapore after their exchange, I still have another to go. i will start to miss so many places when I do eventually return back to Singapore.

Well at least I can look forward for my (free) trip to China, Thailand and Hongkong when I'm back in Singapore. :)

Weston Winery

Last night was a good night out. Tired like more than 10 different types of wine in Geoff's winery. The world's most southern winery. The place was quite small, but rather cosy. Will be going back after easter for some more tasting. :)

Any orders for wine???

Looking at the wine bottle.

Finally, appreciating the bottle of wine.

~~~Happy Birthday Gerald~~~
Blog under Constructions
added some new features to my blog. There is this country tracker and also some ip address tracker. Click here to see it.
I think is so funny when Felix was telling me, "Desmond I know you have been looking at my blog, I can trace your ip address of your university". I was like, "yeah, I was looking at your blogs to see if there is any functions I can add to my own, now I finally found something good", but it doesn't trace University of Otago's ip address, it only traces the country ip address. hahaha. He must be up to his usual self again...making nothing to be seem like something, or alot of thing. ;p
is so easy to find friends blog nowadays, but I still want to keep mine as private as possible, so that those who are reading will know that it is exclusive, and dun wanna to make people spend so much time on my blog too. :)
Last day...
Today will be my last day of wine appreciation. Going to the winery to do some wine tasting, expecting to see some snow. :)
All good things come to an end, dun they, I just graduated from Ballroom Dancing last Thursday, Salsa yesterday and tonite I will graduate with the ability to appreciate wine, ya rite? hahaha.
Quite looking forward to it actually, I think I have learn so so much, other than the 2 americans that perpetually more KS than singaporeans(they eat all the food on the table and always fight to take the best wine back) to a very large extent, the lesson is pretty enjoyable.
Will be going to Kayaking this sunday till the next sunday. Yeah, 7 days of non-stop white water kayaking. I'm sure after this, I will stop kayaking. ;p
This half of the semester I focused on skills training, like dancing and kayaking, and next half semester I will be doing horse riding, tramping, and spanish lessons. Will try to pick up some golfing as well since it is so cheap to do it here.
I got my exam schedule and it will be ending on the 20th June. Looking for kakis to travel around NZ. I will have a good 6 weeks of travelling I hope.
And I'm gonna sell my car after that, I just got my car checked today, everything is alright, and I zhenged my car abit, so now it is going to be damn good to drive in. Can u believe that normal cars take almost 2 tanks to drive to queenstown but I only took half tank. hahaha...
Who knows the person who is going to canterbury, I want to sell it to the person. :)
Today is the dateline of my exchange application submission, wish me luck man, i need plenty of it. I hope to get into the university that I want.
Palm Sunday aka Passion Sunday
Had a meaning day in church today, first time celebrating palm sunday out of Singapore. The church have special procession and they continue to my the On Eagle's Wing...:) Then the palms here are so different from the ones in Singapore. Take a look...
Palm Sunday is also known as passion sunday, so as you all know my passion for the outdoors and the sun, I took advantage of the marvellous weather to go for a trek at the Pineapple trail. It was one of those normal moments that I think I will take nice photos...so enjoy...
We took the most isolated trek down, then we found a makeshift toilet in the middle of nowhere, NZers really know how to pamper themselves man.
Last night party was crazy, the bathroom window was left ajar, so those standing outside the flat can see who is using the bathroom. Then lotsa people are drunk, and they start kissing everyone. A few ladies was like carassing themselves infront of me, hahaha, guess it is typical here. Reached home like 4 and have to wake up at 9am. It is normal in SG, but I think I'm sleeping too much here.
This weekend was well spent, did kayaking, trekking, partying, and a little bit of studying, so I think this is quite a fruitful weekend for me...and I have to make a decision by Wed for my exchange. :(
CrUsH!n6 W@v35
Yeah, I had a talk with Laurie last nite, I put on my diplomatic front to discuss my concerns. Alright that is settled, and now I want to talk to Alex about what happened, I would be happy to give the food, but I think having the courteousy to ask won't do you any bad. :)
I went for kayaking on the beach today, the waves were so so big and strong, I got capsized so many times, and it is impossible for me to roll up because the under current is too strong, I cannot even lean forward when I'm in the sea. Anyway, the last time I went I caught 4 surfs and I thought was very good. Today I was practically surfing like nobody's business, keep surfing and surfing. Got some family watching me on the beach...hahaha. So happy that I can catch all the surf so easily.
The guys from the club are even more impressive, they used playboats to perform stunts on the waves, jumping up and down. They are beyond my standard lah, but I will strive to be like them, hopefully before I come back from NZ. ;p
But thank god they ended early, I flew out of my kayak so many times, they are definitely worst than the one that I tried in Ramunia.
There is a party tonite, so I will be drink drank drunk....cheers to all the bdae babies man. And yes, tml will be even a better day....
Joke of the Day
This story is from yesterday...
After gym, Alex(my flatmate) asked me if he can cook dinner for me, and I was like, I think better not because I'm like abstaining from meat today, you go ahead. Then he was like, its ok, I can cook food without meat, I have got fish. Then I was hesitant because I already know what I want to cook for the night, but knowing me, I hate saying "No" to people so I accepted it.
After my lessons, I immediately rushed home and to ask if there is anything I can help or contribute. This is the best part... To my surprise, he was already in the kitchen preparing dinner, and before I want to ask him if there is anything I can contribute, I saw potatoes and carrots cut, and for all his grocery shopping trips, i was with him, but I've never see him getting all those stuff. Then he was like, I take your potatoes k? I was like ok...den I went to the fridge and check the carrots are MINE too. And he had already place a piece of chicken in the soup, so I was like I can't drink the soup because it has chicken, then he was like he will take it out, I was like forget it, it is already soaked in water. And I went back to my fridge and check, the chicken was MINE too, it is suppose to be my lunch today, so today's lunch I fast, and I choose to give up something that I want for lent. :(
I told him forget it, I will cook my own dinner, he insisted on cooking because he said there is fish, I was like ok. I really hate to say no, but for goodness sake, I had potato soup the day before for lunch and dinner, and there u are now cooking the same thing for me. he knows it too because I gave him a bowl of soup to drink the day before. argh...
Then I had the impression that only both of us are having dinner, so I invited Karla, and he was like scared not enough food, I was like the amount he cook is enuff for 3 person what...
And then he took one packet of my Pasta. One packet of pasta is meant for 5-7pax, and he also put one packet of his in also, ultra waste food.
So dinner time, there was another girl on the table, and I suppose is a girl he want to impress(he told me about her before). What a night, and Kim was like thanking him for his food, and that it is well cooked. Duh, of coz is well cooked lah, everything on the table(other than the fish in the pasta and a seperate beef pasta) are all mine, and he was also playing music from his laptop, and guess what, all the music that was played during dinner was MINE.
Morale of the story: Nothing is free, even if someone offers to cook dinner for you. ;p
F@rKstration
I'm really dead pissed about Laurie(the aunstralian bucked tooth girl who is my flatmate).
Argh...Usually I'm damn composed and patient with people but this one is really an exceptional case that could get me all worked up.
Is about this lesson that I taught the flat to be environmentally friendly, and yes, I agree I may seem a little insensitive to la femmes, however, how could they even make a joke out of someone who is such a lover of nature and a fevernt environmentalist.
I told the flat to try to use a roll of toilet paper for 3 days, which shouldn't be too much of a problem, becuase there are only 2 girls and the guys hardly goes to the washroom. And also for the fact that the paper finish so fast, 12 rolls finish in less than a week, I wonder what they do in the washroom. And rumour has it that I'm suppose to get the toilet papers but there wasn't such thing written in the flat agreement. But out of gentlemanly manners, I went to buy it.
So this bucked tooth lady went around telling people how I was trying to control the flat when she was the bl00dY !doit who tries to act bossy. Argh, freaking piece of shit. Lets hope I dun sterotype all Australians after this incident. She is totally ruining my reputation for mis-leading people's thoughts with her own. She also like to make decision for people, like tell people that A and B is going to do this when in fact A and B is still thinking about it.
K, after all this is a blog, where I'm suppose to share all my emtions, pardon my use of words esp the 'bucked tooth', and yes, she is really 'bucked tooth' literally.
With god's grace, and in this season of lent, I ask for Xtremely more patience and I pray real hard for me to forgive and forget(forgive her for what she has done, and forget her for my entire life) about this whole incident.
She is backed now, I'm gonna talk to her about this, I hate it when people start talking behind you, just like what she did...b!tcH.
Ok, thats all from me. No more.
Did I just mention in my previous post that Great people are about to handle adversity with courage and determination and make it a better one, and yes, I'm going to this now...argh.
Ending of a dream signifies a beginning of another
Yeah, the reality is out, I will not be staying in NZ anymore. :(
See, my actual plan was to stay in NZ for like a year so that I can save on cost on travelling. You know how the maths work right, if I dun move around, I will save up on the sunk cost(like the travelling xp, the settling down $$$, etc). So many of my friends are like Desmond why dun you wanna go to another place or why dun I wanna go back Singapore to complete my education.
Ok here are my answers...
1. Why NZ would be better because of the weather
2. An european lifestyle with a sg standard of living
3. Save 2 times the amount of $$$ if i were to go another place
4. So many things that I can do in NZ esp all the xtreme sports at cheap prices.
5. I will not have to plan again.
6. I will miss my friends in NZ esp Karla.
7. I will miss my wife here, have to sell her away so fast.
8. If I have the amount of $$$ I would go to another country, but for goodness sake, I only have a budget of 15k for 2 exchange. I'm not RICH!!!
Why dun I wanna go back Singapore...
1. Because in the first place I never wanted to study in Singapore.
2. Enough of smugging in school, time to take a break and see the world.
3. Whenever I have the chance to get out of the country, I would and I will.
4. To stabalise my GPA since I'm already getting my honours.
5. Sad but true, I hate my school.
6. So sad to see our lives so controlled instead of having the freewill to really do what we want. And even if we can do what we want, we are merely doing from the choices that we have.
Having said all these, I do miss my family, friends and love ones. I miss you guys so so much. Yeah, but this little dream of mine in NZ is coming to an end, and I will be leaving NZ at the end of July.
I just got my exam dates out. I wil be having a road trip from 21st June to 30th July. 5 weeks of it, I hope it is enough. Interested to join me, give me a mail....;p
Someone asked me what is my contigency plan if I dun get NZ, I told her that I dun have any because if I can't get the best, I'm willing to settle for anything that is cost effective, so anything will do.
Eagerly anticipating for start of the new dream. So my plan is....will update more once the plan is firmed up. CLUE: I have signed up for spanish classes.
Shouldn't be counting down how many days I left here, instead this serves as a gentle reminder that I should treasure every single second that I'm left here and make the best out from it.
Great people are not those who plan/strategises great things/plans, but are those who are able to overcome adversity with great courage and determination, and turn it into a successful one.
Albatross Colony
Stole some time to drive at the Pennisular to visit the Albatross Colony. It is literally a long winding road, people do get dizzy while driving that road. And the worst part is that your driving along the sea. You get both sea and land sick. No me, but my passenger. It was so cold but the view is amazing, you see so many albatross flying over you, and the seals at the rock of the clift. This is so nice....
!nNoC3n+ & tH3 Ch0co!@+3 f@c+0rY
Been here for like almost 2 months and finally got a chance to visit the Cadbury's Chocolate factory last weekend. I'm not really a fan of chocolate, but Cadbury's chocolate is really nice, full of milk, maybe that is why I like it so much. But then again, it is indeed very $!nful.....
Yeah, awfully chocolate, in KING sizes and CHEAP CHEAP prices.
And yes, yours truly modelling the chocolate, that is why it is so good, coz i'm modelling it. ;p
SOS Call
The phone call...
A woman wanted to reach her husband on his mobile phone but discovered that she was out of credit; she instructed her son - to use his own phone to pass across an urgent message to daddy who is at site.
After junior had called, he got back to mummy to inform her that it was a lady that picked up daddy's phone the three times he tried reaching dad on the mobile. (Women!!)
She waited impatiently for her husband to return from site, immediately she sighted him, she gave him a very hot slap, while the man was trying to ask why? She repeated the slap, people from neighborhood rushed around to know the cause of this.
The man asked junior to tell everybody what the lady said to him when he called, junior said "the number u are Trying To call Is not Reachable At the Moment. Pls Try Again Later".
Moral of the story is? Never ask your kid to do anything on your behalf, no matter how simple it is.
On Eagle's Wings
This is a very nice song that I always here in the mass here. U know you will never walk alone. :)
On Eagle's Wings
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,
who abide in His shadow for life,
say to the Lord:
My refuge,
my Rock in whom I trust!
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
and hold you in the palm of His hand,
And hold you in the palm of His hand. (Chorus)
The snare of the fowler will never capture you
and famine will bring you no fear
under His wings your refuge,
His faithfulness your shield
You need not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
though thousands fall about you,
near you it shall not come.
For to His angels He's given a command
to guard you in all of your ways
upon their hands they will bear you up
lest you dash your foot against a stone.
~~~Happy Birthday Gabriel~~~

Surfing New Zealand

Ban is over here with me on Thursday and he left this morning. These few days have been pretty packed especially when I have to juggle between my test, leftover schoolwork, missing out on a kayaking trip this weekend and uncertainty over my next exchange. :(

Things exactly going the way I want it to, living too much in comfort i supposed. But hey, it is only when things ain't going your way, that you actually gets to try out so many more new things and excercise more of your decision making and initiative. In any case, I have God to fall back on no matter what happens, and I'm very sure that he already has plans for me, and I will know it in no time.

On Friday, I brought Ban to surf. It is his first time, and mine too. The water was really freezing even though we are wearing wet suit. I manage to stand up once. I need to quickly get the hang of it and start playing in the very suitable wave conditions.

Take a look at nnoc3nt the Surfer...

An incomplete picture....

A complete one...

And now, a perfect one...

Queenstown Rafting

This must be one of my most enjoyed activities, firstly because it is more adventurous, and demanded more physical strength. I'm really impressed that they will provide everything from head to toe, and their abilitiy to support such a big group. We had a very good briefing and we didn't spend much time warming up, so I would say they are really good.

There were a few rapids which was like one of the best I ever had. I will be doing kayaking on such river during easter, I just can't wait. All of us jumped into the water and we were just swept dowstream.

It was good fun when we start splashing water at one another and pushing each other out of the raft. We saw the cave where they film Gollum where he is catching and eating fish in LOTR, it is really nice, I wonder how they find all these places, or they just randomly choose it because everywhere is just so nice. And finally attempting the best rapid which lasted like 8-10secs. It was really good.

Can you see how rough the water is...hahaha. I will be back to Queenstown for more sports, but this time, it is not going to be free. Thank Ban once again for this invitation, I will be back.... Till then...time to go back to reality

Arrowtown's Hospitality

We were brought to Arrowtown (a small town which is made known because of the many gold that was foudn there, 3 weeks a gold, someone found gold again). We were welcome practically by the whole town, it was like so grand.

We have the pre-school kids, the aspiring Buckingham Cancan Girls(the small version), the actual Buckingham Cancan Grils and the Miners Band made up by a group of people whose average age is 80.

The food was good, and entertainment was so nice. We have dancing, drinking and more drinking. Did I mention that I had freeflow of wine and beer everynight, but this night is even more, because the waitress just keep pouring wine into my glass, even though I didn't ask for it. Dun wanna disappoint the waitress, so I just finish what was poured, and like the oath that I made, I will participate in all wine frenzies, and punish the hell of my kidney. ;p

It was quite an amazing old town despite being small, but the people are really nice. I was dancing with this mother of 2, and she was like volunteering to be like the cancan girls just for fun. She look young thou...hahaha

Dart River Safari

We woke have to meet at 7.30am for this tour, so it better be good. We went to this place called the Glenorchy. We were driven in a Safari Van which showed us some LOTR sites. After which, we had a bush walk, the forest is so nice, is like totally pure green and brown, definitely different from the ones I see in Asia.

After the bush walk, we went for jetboating at the Dart River. Needless to share how trilling the jetboat was, the scenery was equally good. We saw many nice mountains, and this time, we were brought so close to a snowcap mountain. Because the river runs through the mountains with snow, the glacier made the water crystal blue, it is so nice, never have I see this colour of a river in my life. The water level is really shallow, and the boat was designed to travel on it, we hit lotsa rocks, but the boat performed very well.

Queenstown's Skyline - Gondola & Luge

Gondola is actually a more glam name for a Cable car. We were invited to have lunch at the top of the skyline. It was pretty cool as they got a para-glider to descend with the company's logo.

After which we went to tried the luge. It was so fun, even though we have to tke the beinnger route for our first try. It is so so excitin. It is really worth all the while. At the top of the skyline, which overlooked the whole Queenstown and the paragliders just flew over our head. It is really nice. :)

Milford Sound

We took a private jet from Queenstown Airport to Milford Sound. That is like how cool. We are pampered by a jet that holds only 8 pax. I guess I dun have to describe how nice the bird's eye view was. Saw many lakes, rivers, mountains, and a few LOTR sites. Is really really wonderful.

Here is a pic of one of the many snow-capped mountain even though we are moving into autum. Those are actually fomred by glaciers..... (speaking about glaciers, I'm planning for a glacier trekking trip after my exams together with my road trips)

When we landed, we were archered to the Jetty on a private cruise. I have been to Milford Sound like 13 years ago, so I wasn't that excited. But still, I would like to recap some of my memory. As expected, the scenery was perfect...and that day was very sunny, but the wind makes it so cold. We were told that if it rains, we will see waterfall everywhere along the ridge lines.... I think this scene will be more perfect. hahaha

I saw some seals, though I'm expecting more. I saw like a whole colony of it with penguines when I came 13years ago, but this time, I only manage to see 5. Aiyah, not that bad lah, at least still can see something. They are really so cute....is so different to see them living in the wild than to see them living in captivity....

Once again, I'm so proud of Mother Nature for all these beautiful creations...

~~~Happy Birthday Jizhi~~~
