Milan, Italy
Milan, the fashion city of Europe and the Europe, you can definitely find any top brands in this city. Is so amazing that once you looked at those price tags, you know you can not afford unless you are some big-timer. In Milan, almost everything is expensive, other than the food and of course, shopping is FREE (I mean window shopping). I met up with my flatmate - Elena from Toroa when I was in New Zealnad. It was so great. It wasn’t too long ago that we parted in the good old NZ, and neither of us expects to see each other so soon, but it was really good catching up and reminiscing the good old days in the place where I call paradise.
Elena was wooed by James Ryan (one of the ex-all blacks rugger), was so different now. She has been working for a year and everything has changed since. She is no longer the party animal that I know, she become very mellow and prefers to rest than to party now. It looks like a deadly disease that everyone get when they started working. Well, I never remembered myself only wanting to stay at home for a hard day’s work when I was working…guess it differs from people to people.
The first night, we went out for some pizza (what else when you are in Italy, =p) For a very reasonable price and you get the biggest pizza in town. Look at the size of the pizza. Elena and her friends can only finish half of their own pizza, and I have to try real hard to finish mine, but it was definitely worth it.The next day, Elena bought me to try some typical food of Bergamo, in Bergamo. It was a little on the pricey side, but the food I tried is probably one of the best Italian food that I have ever tasted in my life. It was really really good….
For the starter, we had meat…. Then the first main course we had pastas….I have never seen or tried this type of pasta in my life. Then you have more pastas, different kind, and it looks like dumplings.
Next, we have stewed donkey meat with starched sweet corn.
For the dessert, we have Italian’s best dessert, Tiramisu.
Milan is in fact, from my point of viewing, is quite boring. Other than all the famous museums that was closed when I wanted to visit them. They have the original “The Last Supper” which I was told that you need to book a few months before.
You have the amazing Cathedral, Duomo, which was quite similar to the one I saw in Cologne. It is not as BIG, but the exterior is definitely impressive. With more uncountable amount of statues on the exterior and this Cathedral can hold up to 40,000 people.

Then you have the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele shopping arcade where only the ‘privileged’ gets to buy the stuff. But of course, window shopping is free. =)This is one of the many branded boutiques that are in this shopping arcade.
Then a few hours before I leave Milan, I get to meet my exchange mates from Mexico. Elena and Laura. We had Sangria and gossiped about Spanish professors and catch up on where we left the other time. They are really envious of my traveling, but I’m really envious in the continent that they are in. I guess all of us are always so greedy that we always want things that we dun have and how we are never contented with whatever we have.
