Dublin, Ireland
Prior to coming, everyone was telling me how good Dublin was, as much as I do not want to disappoint their thoughts on Dublin, but I think it was a so-so. Well, I think is different. I think I had one of my craziest experiences in Couchsurfing here. I was first promised a place to stay with this guy whom seems really well in our chat over the mail.
However, far from what I thought, we were given quite sub-standard treatment. I mean, he is not mean…but he is just weird. He stays in his house, but in a gardening shed. Yes, I didn’t type wrongly, he stays in a gardening shed. It was slightly bigger than a handicapped toilet, if you know how big that is. And then, he has his studying table and a few of his trash and displays, you can image the place he has for himself to sleep. Needless to say, tiann and myself have to share with him and he expected us to sleep with him in a bean bag which doesn’t make sense, because it doesn’t give us enough rest. And he choose to sleep between us. That is so crazy…he gave us an ambiguous description about his place and I think he should do better than this.
Next, he is so weird, stopping and doing window shopping when he suppose to be showing us around. He has like his whole lifetime to do that, while we only have 1 day to see what there is in Dublin. It makes it so inefficient for him to show us around. He stopped and buy food without asking us or telling us is meal time. This is so so weird. Alright, enough about him, I think incident like this complete my whole traveling experience. If it was so rosy, then I wouldn’t have anything to compare, but thank god, it was just like that.
At first, I’m suppose to stay with him for like 2-3 nights, but I knew I should just move out and I called up the next host and stayed with them. They are the best. They are Martin and Anne, and they gave us really cool places to stay, and cooked us fabulous dinners.
Now, I should talk more about Dublin. This is the famous place where Guinness comes from.
This is taken in The National Museum.
This is the dawn picture of Dublin. This is the Remembrance Park.
Here you see how much effort they put into decorating their show to attract the customers, I’m really impressed how they can do it for any and every occasion. I wished the shops in my home can do this, at least it brings pride to what they are doing, rather than showing all the discounted price tags.
