Marseille, France

I finally meet someone from Mexico here. Remember my Central America trip that I met 2 french guys while traveling and we did some of the craziest thing known to man-kind during our traveling in Centeral America which of course when you ask, I will share. I met Miloud together with his Mexican girlfriend and his brother here. Such a nice time to get together, to reminisce the good old times that we once shared. The saying that hardship bonds people never goes wrong. I was only with him for less than 2 weeks, but when we met up, we were like the best of friends. :) It is something words cannot describe, but the feeling is so true and sincere. I wonder why friendships of many years sometimes turn out so hard and complicated.
He took us to try some restaurant and introduce us to Marseille’s speciality, Baillabaisse, after which, he brought us to an Arabic shop to try some Arabic tea together with Shisha. Totally worth this trip to Marseille. We were hosted by Sophie, a French Medicine student in the local university. Her profile was blank, so we were the first to be hosted here, I just find it so hard to understand how she (alone) even dare to host 2 guys whom she do not even know and may end up to be indecent guys. How and where did she learn how to trust so much? Sometimes, you just cannot trust too much, especially when you put yourself into danger. But as what Kong Zhi said, human are born with a good heart, and I think she has it all, and simply by trust people and in this case, one girl hosting 2 guys from far faraway land, Singapore. She cooked Croquette de pomme et champignons de Paris (Potatoes with egg yolk and mushrooms) and it was not too bad. I can’t really complaint especially when I’m trying French food 24/7. She also cooked some salted crepe with ham and eggs for us.
I also visited the famous Chateau d’If where The Count of Monte Carlo was written about and film. It is just an island with a built up prison cell/fort/dungeon. Out of all the cities that I have seen in the south, I think I enjoyed Marseille the most, because you get enough diversity to make you feel that there is much more interesting things to look out for. This part of France has quite a number of Arabic people as it is the nearest major city of France to the Arabic countries. It is like the 2nd biggest city in France or so they said. And Marseille and Paris soccer fans have the greatest rivalry when it comes to soccer.
This is how a park look like in Marseille.
The old Pier.
And like all the town in France, there is a Church of Notre Dame.
