Brussels, Belgium

Arrived at Belgium via the budget plane that flies to another city instead of Brussels. Ingrid (Huiting’s CS host) picked me at the airport and sent me to Anita’s place. Anita is such a great couchsurfer, she trusted me to her place and left her keys with her neighbours even though she is away in Austria for business trip. So I get a whole apartment to myself. It was really cool. The first night, I met up with Isabelle (whom I met in Philippines), and she showed me the whole of Brussels within a night and brought me to try the Fries and Kreik (Cherry Beer). Then we start to talk about our travel in Philippines, traveling seems to the be the most common topic that I can picked up with all the Europeans here. :)

The next day I met Tse Tiann, Huiting, Jia Hui, and Desmond (whom I swear it sounds like, looks like and behave like Felix). Then Ingrid brought us to try the traditional Belgium food. It was great, because she introduce some Belgium friends to us, and it was really fantastic. There I got to know someone who also knows how to fly a plane, and he was really nice as he offers to send us home. We walked around the city (which is not really big) and indulged ourselves with chocolates, beer, oysters and wine. It was indeed a very sinful indulgence, but I must say it is worth every single cent of what is spent. Then when Anita was back, we got to meet her (finally) the next day, she gave her room to us and she slept with her neigbours, and because we didn’t come back early, she was too tired and so she went to bed. But the next day, she woke up early and made us a typical French breakfast. She is really amazing woman. So busy, and yet she seems to be able to handle everything so well. :) We had a hearty breakfast with her before leaving to Bruges. Upon return from Bruges, Jb picked waited for us even though the train was late and brought us back to his place with dinner awaiting for us. It was absolutely wonderful. We spend a good night of dinner (tomato roasted beef with cheese and tomato and drink wine), with his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s son Lucas (who was really adorable). Jb sent me to the airport in the morning. I wonder how all the people that I have met are really so nice and all. It just make me more sad to leave the country and this part of the world. Overall Brussels, is quite a small city, but the partying and the food aspect is unlimited.
