Societal Norms

I was browsing through my school's new website, was quite impressed until I reached the page where I saw scholarships and awards.

I was terrified as to what my school is turning into. Almost all the awards(except for 1) required "Excellent Academic Performance". Everything is so grade oriented. Even like this student leader award is only given to student who is within top 5% of the cohort.

Even though I got some of the scholarships and awards, but I just hate the system. The system that made it so elitist. Everything is about grades, grades and grades.

Given this 2 hypothetical pple A and B. If A is a student leader, who displays great leadership qualities and single handedly brought the school's student life to another higher level and if B is just one of the person who comfortably sits as a chairperson in a high performing team, and he is one of the top student too, the price will go to B without a doubt regardless of the intangible stuff that A has done for the school.

This is so sick. Imagine A give up so much of his/her time to help the school and in the end, it is given to someone who probably hide himself at one side and just mug and mug. No offence to anyone, and the above story isn't true yah.

It have proven so many times that people who do well are not necessary people who have higher paper qualification. In fact, almost all those who are high-achievers are probably under achievers in their time as a student. Why den does companies look almost solely for paper qualifications?

What can you tell from a paper qualification? That a person can mug? That has the quality to listen and produce? This is so dumb. I have seen so many people who are "no so educated" being even a better person and succeeding better in the outside world.

And in fact, we can't really blame the company, but there definitely have to be someone to blame rite. Obviously is the person at the top....stopid stopid.

U noe the highly paid and regarded people are not their investment banker, nor their govt, but are their farmers....

Stupid social norms....I hate it!!!
